Middle School students have been working on designing catapults. Last week students put their catapults through tests to determine launching distance and accuracy. Students tested their catapults by launching them towards a target. They collected data on projectile distance, if the target was hit, or how far away from the target their mini-marshmallow landed. During this project students will graph their data using a coordinate grid and using the computer program Excel. We will also work on mean, medium, mode, and range. After the initial tests, students were able to modify one aspect of their catapult and then retest to determine if the change improved their distance or accuracy.
