Wind energy

As part of a unit on wind and alternative energy, the advanced STEM classes have been designing, planning, and building wind powered vehicles. The students started the unit by reading about sail design, wind powered vehicles in the world, tricycles, and bicycles. They were then able to use that knowledge in their vehicle design. Students will measure how far their vehicles move with one puff of air. They will then estimate how many puffs of air it will take to move their vehicles 6 feet. Students will be testing the vehicles and collecting data. 

The unit will continue with more lessons on wind energy and students will construct wind turbines.
